Micael

Greetings to Mrs. Belton, staff, students, parents, and local community of Roanoke Academy for Math & Science!

My name is Michele Micael and I am honored to serve as the RAMS new Assistant Principal. I look forward to bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to this tremendous school. To be given an opportunity to work with an outstanding staff who are committed to providing the best education possible for our youth is quite exciting. In addition, working with your children, as our students, in an effort to expose them to high-level rigor of instruction, opportunities for exploration, and offer students opportunities to maximize their skills sets while engaging their interests is something I covet and can't wait to witness myself.

About me: I was born in Sicily, Italy, but grew up in Kansas. I graduated from the University of Kansas with my Bachelor's in Education. I lived in Arizona for the last 10 years in which I received my Master's in Special Education in 2008. Currently, I am completing my dissertation in hopes of receiving my doctoral degree in May 2017. I have been in education the last 10 years in which 7 of those years I taught K-3 & 6th-7th (Special Needs) and 6th grade. The last 3 years I served as an assistant principal at an elementary and middle school in Arizona.

I want to thank Roanoke City Public Schools for the tremendous opportunity to serve in their school district. It's fantastic to be a part of a school system ranked in the Top-25 in the state of Virginia according to NICHE. I would also like to thank Mrs. Belton for welcoming me with open arms to this amazing campus. Congratulations on making accreditation for the 2015-16 academic school year!!! I look forward to making it a tradition that Roanoke Academy for Math & Science makes accreditation every year with you.

Lastly, I am excited to work with a staff to build on their excellent success in making accreditation. Forging meaningful and purposeful relationships is something I value with the intent that every decision made is with the students’ best interest in mind. With that being said, I look forward to an outstanding school year here at Roanoke Academy for Math & Science.
