School to Home Tips

Classroom Rules:
- Eyes Look
- Ears Listen
- Hands Help
- Feet Walk
- Mouth is for Food
*We also work with the children on making “good choices” throughout each day as well as helping their friends to do so as well. Peer modeling is a powerful tool … children watch each other and often copy others.

Routine and consistency are very important and children benefit greatly from knowing what to expect when and what is expected of them. Having dinner together at a certain time, having a specific bedtime, and maintaining rules and fair consequences, etc. will help children greatly! Even if this isn’t your area of strength, it’s never too late to start making small changes that can make a big difference for both you and your child! Let us know if we can help you by giving you more information or ideas of where to start.

Please take time to read with your child every day. Several books have been sent home for you to keep already (both from our classroom “adopters” and the Star City Reads program). Developing an early love of books and reading can last forever and have a lasting impact. It also helps to promote literacy skills as well as enhances vocabulary and communication. Reading to your child is a simple thing you can do that will provide them with lifelong benefits and let you spend some quality time together!
